Bönen, September 13, 2010 – GEA Farm Technologies (GEA FT) continues its expansion strategy by strengthening its presence in New Zealand through the acquisition of Farmers Industries Limited (FIL). New Zealand, the world’s largest exporter of dairy products, is considered a key market for GEA FT.

FIL was founded in 1978 and has focused on the development and manufacturing of a wide chemicals and consumables product range. This includes dairy detergents and sanitisers, teat care products, bloat remedies, spray marker dyes and its award winning and globally recognized range of oestrus detection tailpaints. FIL operates from Mount Maunganui and serves 17 international markets. GEA FT already has well established operations in New Zealand which are focused on the sale and service of milking and manure equipment.

“The acquisition of FIL completes our product portfolio for the New Zealand market. We see an opportunity to further accelerate FIL’s international growth and product development with the leverage of GEA FT’s world-wide sales network. This acquisition is part of a global strategy to strengthen our position in the consumables market.” says Dirk Hejnal, Segment President of GEA Farm Technologies.

FIL’s former owners, Dave Hancox and Arthur Jordan, are excited about the transaction. “This gives FIL and GEA FT the opportunity to build a stronger portfolio of products and services for NZ dairy farmers and at the same time provides an exciting opportunity for the company’s staff and suppliers,” Arthur Jordan says.
