“Keep it simple, stick to the basics and be good at what you know and don’t be afraid to ask questions” are a few mottos that Craig swears by.
Craig’s interest in dairying and rural life started in his early teens when he would spend school holidays working on a local farm - milking cows, helping with calves and cleaning troughs.
Holding a Diploma of Agricultural Engineering, which he completed while doing his apprenticeship to become a milking machine fitter at Central Farm Services in Stratford. Craig then moved into a fitters role for Alfa Laval NZ in central Taranaki. Since then he’s worked in a number of roles including DTS, Hynds Pipe Systems and Aggreko Generator Rentals. In 2016 he took the opportunity to join FIL and he’s never looked back!
Craig says the best part of his job is “helping farmers” and that “every day is different” and with his experience in the rural sector he can easily see the whole picture and is keen to offer good advice. Finding solutions for grade issues, mastitis and chemical training are key areas of interest.
Covering the Central and South Taranaki area Craig reckons that the Stratford view of Mt Taranaki is the “best in the world” and says that “If you can’t see the mountain, it’s raining...if you can see the mountain, it’s going too!”
A keen home cook (ask about his Lamb Roast) Craig keeps active in his downtime. He loves watching rugby and spending time with friends.
