Shayla has spent the past 5 years inspecting dairy plants and helping farmers with avoiding grades being her main focus. She says that “working on reaching milk quality targets” is one of her biggest motivators for her new role with FIL.
After spending time on her Grandparents deer farm as a child, Shayla became interested in the rural lifestyle and what it could offer. From the age of 18 she’s worked on dairy farms, spent 5 years with QCONZ, worked with Fonterra On Farm Assets and then joined the FIL in April 2021.
Shayla enjoys running team training sessions in shed “covering milking plant components, wash evaluations and milk quality” and sees this collaborative way of working as a real asset to the service that FIL area managers offer.
Encompassing Rotorua and Reporoa, Shayla says that the pumice soils and thermal activity add to the uniqueness of the area and that there are “some stunning views across the valley on a clear day”.
Shayla spends any free time outdoors with her young family.
